A client’s unsubscribe rate had been climbing for six weeks with their email provider.

Summer is officially here and the kids are home. But, lucky me, I still have a business to run! 😂

Gone are the days of school drop off buying me some quiet work hours. My office is now wherever the kids aren’t, which changes approximately every 11 minutes.

But here is what I keep coming back to.

I built this business specifically so that seasons like this one would not feel like a crisis.

I knew it was time to leave teaching when Not Anot

I knew it was time to leave teaching when Not Another VA replaced my teaching income.

Not when I hit some arbitrary revenue goal. Not when someone told me I was ready. When the numbers told me.

And I say that as someone who built this in the most imperfect conditions possible.

No dedicated office. No uninterrupted hours. No perfect time that finally showed up on the calendar.

It was 2020. I was a full time history teacher, in the classroom. And I decided to finally do it.
Just early mornings before the house woke up. Parking lots during practice. The five minutes between school pickup and starting dinner. Late nights after everyone was in bed.

A full house. A packed schedule. Two boys in sports and a business that needed me to keep showing up anyway.
