I thought hockey would be a fun hobby to keep my boys busy.

I did not realize it would take over my entire life and my bank account.

I talked a client out of sending an email this week.

I know, that seems weird. But it’s actually part of my job.

She had written a really good email promoting a new offer. The copy was solid. The offer was great.

But she had not emailed her list in six weeks.

And the first thing her audience was going to hear from her after six weeks of silence was a sales pitch.

That is not a strategy. That is a really fast way to tank your open rates and lose the trust you spent months building.

So I told her to wait. We sent a re-engagement email first. Something warm and personal that reminded her audience who she was and why they signed up in the first place. Then three days later we sent the offer.
